Why do you need to understand the numbers of your business?

So you can translate that understanding into judgments leading to actions that make you money. This is how you score in business.

If you can become good at that translation, you’ll score well and often. Repeating what you know makes you money is the key to building a good business. How do you keep repeating the judgments and actions that lead you to consistently make money?

One answer can be to follow your instincts. The judgments made based on those underlying emotions would lead you to take certain actions. This decision-making process would work if you were naturally good at making money and then you would be able to repeat what works.

But what happens if the actions you take don’t consistently make you money? You get frustrated. You want to find the answers, but can’t. This frustration drains your tank of fuel until it is empty. You get tired of the battle. Some of you sadly accept your limitations, give up and go get a job.

It doesn’t have to be that way. Following your gut instincts doesn’t always work. Getting in business to stay sometimes requires you to act contrary to your core beliefs. And sometimes, those core beliefs are actually a wall that will stop you from succeeding.
